Thank you for visiting my website!
I am an associate professor of astrophysics and co-founder of the Cosmic DAWN Center located at the DTU-Space (Technical University of Denamrk) and the Niels Bohr Institute (University of Copenhagen). For my research I study the formation and evolution of the galaxies since the Big Bang using the best astronomical facilities in the world (and in space). In other words, I join the efforts of some of the brightest minds that I am lucky enough to call friends and colleagues, in order to understand the very origins of our Cosmos.
As almost everything else in life, scientific research requires resources. For this I am grateful to the VELUX Foundation that in 2016 awarded me a ~€1M grant to support my research, as well as to the Carlsberg Foundation. We are also grateful to the Danish National Research Foundation that in 2017 trusted us with a multi-million "investment" to establish a new Center of Excellence: "The Cosmic DAWN Center" of which I am a co-founder and deputy director. More recently, I received the Villum Young Investogator Plus award, securing another ~€700k for my group (2021-2024). More about this be found here.
I am also acting as deputy director of the Cosmic DAWN Center and I am chairing the Cosmic DAWN post-Docotoral Fellowship program, so if you are interested please get in touch.
Born in Athens, I left Greece in 2005 to pursue my PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Oxford. The rest about me and my research can be found below:
